BC Pharmacists scope of practice expansion

A big change was made for BC residents in June 2023: BC Pharmacists are now able to consult and prescribe for certain minor conditions and can also provide advice.

Questions and Answers document that addresses this topic can be viewed here: Pharmacist scope of practice expansion.

The HealthLink BC website also has some helpful information on medication that can be found HERE.

It may prove to be a good practice to ensure individuals check their prescriptions regularly and order refills in advance to avoid running out of medications.

Virtual Health Care

Virtual access to Primary Care Physician allows patients the convenience to choose a date and time for an appointment and to receive the consultation from their own home. This avoids travel or wait time in the Emergency Department, and is also a benefit to people who have no Family Doctor (unattached patients).

A reminder that Virtual Health Care can provide prescription and outpatient diagnostics requests.
