Haisla Community School

Haisla Community School (HCS) is an elementary school in Kitamaat Village that merges traditional lessons with modern education plans.   HCS, in partnership with parents and the community, believe that all children are capable of success and foster each child’s full academic potential as lifelong learners.

All our students, from Kindergarten to Grade 7, benefit from an enriching learning environment, Haisla language and cultural classes.

The school offers:

  • Daily breakfast and hot lunch programs.
  • Weekly Starfish Pack program (food security).
  • Emphasis on First Peoples Ways of Learning.
  • Commitment to get students on the land to learn traditional ways.
  • A great team that offers inclusion and extra needs supports for children with diverse needs.
  • School-wide reading and math programs.
  • State-of-the-art technology for learning and student support – iPads, laptops, smart boards, and robotics.
  • Haisla language and cultural program.
  • Bus transportation from Kitimat.

We have a dedicated staff committed to student learning and creating a caring and respectful learning environment.

All interested students are welcome to apply. Students do not have to be Haisla or Indigenous.
