Join us in a transformative journey of intergenerational healing rooted in our land, culture, and community. This pilot program is designed to address the lasting impacts of residential schools, with a focus on breaking negative intergenerational behaviors and celebrating the positive successes carried through generations.
Dates: November 4, 2024 – November 30, 2024 (dates edited)
Location: Kitimat Valley Institute, Land-Based Healing Room
Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Participants will learn practical coping strategies to manage anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and depression. Through art therapy, x̄á’isla language lessons, and the exploration of how diet impacts brain function and moods, we aim to support holistic wellness. Activities include art therapy, listening to traditional music, engaging in language lessons, working on the intergenerational negative coping strategies by learning more about how we can interact in creative and meaningful ways.
Transportation will be provided, and two meals are included each day. Participants will be compensated for each day they attend, ensuring equitable access. Your voice will shape the program's future, giving you a say in its development.
This is more than a program—it is a safe space to heal, reconnect, and strengthen the bonds that tie us together.
The focus is not to trigger so much as it is to learn new skills.
