Jordan’s Principle

The program ensures that all Haisla children and youth have access to the health, social, and educational services they need without delay. Through Jordan's Principle, the Child & Youth Services Program advocates for the rights of Haisla children and youth, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive in all areas of their lives, addressing any gaps in service provision.

Youth Supports

The program provides financial assistance to eligible Haisla children and youth to participate in extracurricular activities, educational programs, and other developmental opportunities. This includes funding for sports, arts, and cultural activities, as well as educational resources and support for those pursuing post-secondary education or vocational training.

Early Years Program

The Early Years Program at the Haisla Nation is dedicated to providing high-quality, culturally responsive early childhood education and care. We aim to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where the youngest members of our community can thrive during their formative years. The program supports the holistic development of infants, toddlers, nursery, and preschool-aged children, laying a strong foundation for their future learning and growth.

Infant Toddler Early Years

Our Infant Toddler program provides a warm and caring environment for the youngest children, focusing on their physical, emotional and cognitive development of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. We strive to create a nurturing environment that integrates cultural teachings and prepares children for future success.

Nursery Care

The Nursery program caters to the developmental needs of children aged 18 months to 3 years. It supports their growing independence, social skills, and early language and motor development through a balance of structured activities and free play. The program fosters a sense of curiosity and discovery, encouraging children to explore the world around them in a safe and supportive setting.

Preschool Program

The Preschool program is designed for children aged 3 to 5 years, preparing them for a successful transition to formal schooling. It offers a rich curriculum that integrates cultural teachings, early literacy and numeracy, creative arts, and physical activity. The program promotes the development of social skills, problem-solving abilities, and a love of learning.

Social Services Program

The Social Services Program of the Haisla Nation is dedicated to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of our community members through comprehensive support services. Our program aims to empower individuals and families by providing the necessary resources, guidance, and opportunities to overcome challenges, achieve stability, and foster personal and social growth. We are committed to promoting resilience, self-sufficiency, and the preservation of family and community bonds.

Social Development (Social Assistance)

The Social Development program provides financial assistance and support services to community members in need. It ensures that individuals and families have access to the basic necessities of life, including food, shelter, and clothing. The program also offers resources and referrals to help recipients transition from dependence on social assistance to greater self-reliance and economic stability.

Social Workers

Our team of social workers offers critical support to individuals and families facing social, emotional, and economic challenges. They provide counseling, advocacy, and case management services, working collaboratively with clients to develop personalized plans that address their unique needs. Social workers play a key role in connecting clients with community resources, facilitating access to healthcare, education, and other essential services.

Food Security

The Food Security program ensures that all community members have consistent access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food. Through initiatives such as food banks, community kitchens, and nutritional education, the program addresses food insecurity and promotes healthy eating habits. We are committed to reducing hunger and improving the overall health and well-being of the Haisla Nation.

Family Preservation

The Family Preservation program is focused on strengthening and maintaining the unity of families within the Haisla Nation. It provides support and resources to families experiencing difficulties, helping them to overcome challenges and stay together. Services include parenting education, conflict resolution, and in-home support, all aimed at preventing the need for out-of-home placements and ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

Life Skills Development

The Life Skills program equips community members with the practical skills they need to navigate daily life successfully. This includes training in areas such as financial management, cooking, job readiness, and communication. The program is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and abilities to lead independent, productive lives, and to contribute positively to the community.
