Haisla Elders Assistance Program (H.E.A.P)

At a duly convened Council meeting held on July 18, 2024, the Haisla Elders Assistance Program (H.E.A.P) policy amendments and budget received approval.

H.E.A.P aims to assist Haisla elders aged 55 and older by offering financial aid for essential home improvements, enhancing safety, accessibility, and quality of life for our elders.

Key updates to the policy include:

  • Must be a registered Haisla member aged 55 and above.
  • Must be a homeowner residing in the home, whether on or off reserve.
  • The allocation of $40,000 is per household, not per member.
  • Those who previously received $10,000 through H.E.A.P are eligible for an additional $30,000 only.

To read the policy in full, please refer to the Haisla Elders Assistance Program Policy.

To apply for this funding please download and complete the H.E.A.P Application.

Note: The application must be completed in full and submitted through the Housing Coordinator. Please ensure the homeowner's status card number is included next to their name on the application along with a phone number they can be contacted at. Incomplete submissions will cause delays.
