Know the Signs: Let’s Keep Our Community Safe This Summer

Date Posted: June 27, 2025

s the summer season settles in, it’s a time for gathering, enjoying the outdoors, and reconnecting with each other. But it’s also a time when certain risks—like drug trafficking and suspicious activity—can increase in our communities.

That’s why we’re asking everyone to stay alert and help keep our neighbourhoods safe.

What to Watch For

We all know our community best. If something feels out of place, it’s worth paying attention. Here are a few signs that could point to suspicious activity:

  • Unfamiliar vehicles or people hanging around, especially at night
  • Cars idling in quiet or remote areas
  • A lot of people coming and going from one property
  • Taxis arriving and leaving without picking anyone up

These signs don’t always mean something is wrong—but if your instincts are telling you something’s off, it’s okay to speak up.

How to Report

If you see something that doesn’t feel right, there are safe and anonymous ways to report it:

Online: Submit a tip anonymously https://www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=398
By phone: Call 9-1-1 if there’s an immediate threat or danger

We All Have a Role to Play

Keeping our community safe isn’t just about reacting—it’s about looking out for one another. Whether it’s a quick call, a quiet tip, or just staying aware, every action helps.

Together, we can build a safer, stronger Haisla Nation—one that protects, respects, and uplifts us all.
