Haisla Fire Rescue is dedicated to safeguarding the lives, homes, and lands of the x̄á’isla people. Rooted in community values of respect, responsibility, and collective care, our department provides emergency response services with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

Who We Are

Our firefighters are trained community volunteers and full-time staff from Haisla and Kitimat who dedicate their time to serve the Haisla Nation. They bring courage, skill, and heart to every call, whether responding to a structure fire, medical emergency, vehicle incident, or community safety concern. Haisla Fire Responds to approximately 175 emergency incidents annually based out of one station utilizing 2x Command units, 1x Type 1 engine, 1x 100foot tower, 1x UTV

What We Do

Emergency Response

We respond 24/7 to fires, medical assists, alarms, and other urgent incidents. Our team is equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to act quickly and effectively in high‑pressure situations.

Community Support

Beyond emergency response, we support Nation events, cultural gatherings, and community safety programs. We are proud to be a visible and trusted presence in the Vllage.

Firefighting Training & Preparedness

Our firefighters receive ongoing training in firefighting techniques, Medical First Responder, Vehicle extrication, Technical Rescue- Rope and water, Pump operations, emergency planning, and incident command. Continuous learning ensures we stay ready for any situation.

Fire Prevention & Safety Education

Prevention saves lives. We work with families, youth, Elders, and community organizations to provide fire‑safety workshops in partnership with FireSmart, school presentations, equipment demonstrations, and home‑safety support.
