To safeguard and promote the cultural heritage and wisdom of the Haisla Nation, ensuring that our language, traditions, and elder knowledge are preserved, celebrated, and passed down through generations.

Culture & Language Program

Revitalizing and promoting the Haisla language and cultural practices through educational initiatives, cultural camps, land-based healing, and the preservation of our historical archives.

 

Language Revitalization:

Offering comprehensive language classes and resources for all age groups, from early childhood to elders, ensuring fluency and understanding of the Haisla language.

Haisla Language Cloud

Cultural Education:

Providing teachings on Haisla customs, values, and traditions through school programs, workshops, and community events.

Culture Camp:

Organizing annual camps that immerse participants in traditional practices, storytelling, and land-based activities, promoting intergenerational learning.

Land-Based Healing:

Integrating traditional knowledge and practices in healing programs that connect participants with the land, fostering physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Archives & Preservation:

Collecting, preserving, and making accessible Haisla historical documents, oral histories, artifacts, and other cultural resources.

Elders Services Program

Providing comprehensive services, programs, and financial support to enhance the well-being of Haisla elders, while facilitating their role as cultural mentors and community leaders.

Elders Centre Operations:

Managing the day-to-day operations of the Elders Centre, offering a welcoming space where elders can participate in social, cultural, and recreational activities.

Programs and Activities:

Organizing a variety of programs at the Elders Centre, including cultural events, wellness activities, educational workshops, and social gatherings, designed to enrich the lives of our elders.

Elders Liaison:

Providing dedicated support through an elder’s liaison who assists with navigating services, advocating for elder needs, and facilitating communication between elders and the broader community.

Financial Supports:

Offering financial assistance to elders through various programs, including subsidies, grants, and other resources that help alleviate financial burdens and enhance their standard of living.
