From the Culture and Language, Environment and Education departments:

_____________________________________________________________________________

Kelly Steele, the Executive Producer at Might For Right Productions, along with a film crew, has been working with Haisla Nation to create a Heritage portal website that will showcase x̄á’isla culture, traditional practices, knowledge, and stewardship of x̄á’isla territory. This initiative is a collaboration between the Environment department, the Culture and Language department, and the Education department.

The film crew will be present in the Haisla community to gather information and stories for use on the Heritage portal.

Kelly and her team are eager to engage with Haisla Elders and Knowledge Keepers who are open to sharing what they have learned/practice/know regarding various topics such as Grease Trails, The Big House, old cooking pits, Feast protocols, Naming protocols, Death and dying protocols, Traditional Recipes, Butedale, the 1948 Amalgamation, Traplines, Núyem, Plants and medicines, as well as any other subjects relevant to the project.

A list of interested individuals will be compiled and arrangements will be made to meet and converse with those who express their interest. Kindly note that due to a possible high level of interest, it may not be possible to accommodate everyone in one visit. If interest is high, the team will make time for a follow-up visit. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm.
