Firewood Access – MK Bay Reserve Lands area

Attention Haisla Community Members:

Thanks to the generous support of Haisla NorthPac Forestry Joint Venture, as of November 10, 2025, ten loads of logs have been delivered to the MK Bay Reserve Lands area. Currently, cutting and delivering logs is not feasible to Haisla community members. For now, the wood is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is exclusively for Haisla Band Members. Please take only what you need and leave some for others.

Additionally, some logs are set aside for a Haisla Cultural Project; these areas will be clearly roped off and marked with signage. Please refrain from taking anything from this designated area.

Signage will be prominently displayed at the location:

  • Community Firewood for Haisla Band Members Only:
  • Cut at your own risk.
  • Please wear eye protection and gloves.
  • Be cautious of unstable logs that may shift or roll.
  • Take only what you need; commercial resale is strictly prohibited.
  • Safety Notice: There is inherent danger in cutting firewood, even when gathered in one location. Please exercise extreme caution while cutting on-site.

If you observe any suspicious activity around the wood piles, kindly reach out to Brent Robinson at (250) 639-0559 or via email at BRobinson@haisla.ca. Helpful information to provide would be the vehicle information (colour/make/model) and license plate number.

Thank you.
