Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) testing by Haisla Fisheries has concluded that Monkey Beach is officially OPEN AND SAFE FOR COCKLE HARVESTING ONLY.

Monkey Beach butter clam samples were also collected and tested positive for PSP on October 16, and are considered TOXIC.

Note that while the removal of siphons and gills from butter clams may reduce the risk of poisoning, harvest is not recommended at this time and the beach is considered ONLY OPEN FOR COCKLE HARVESTING until further notice.

Thank you.
