Haisla representatives took Haisla issues straight to the new provincial government at a recent First Nations Leadership Gathering event in Vancouver.

Chief Councillor Crystal Smith, Deputy Chief Councillor and Executive Committee Chair Brenda Duncan, Stakeholder Relations Committee Chair Kevin Stewart and Chief Executive Officer Jason Majore took part in the event, which ran September 5 to 7. The event gave Haisla and other First Nations leaders an opportunity to speak directly to government ministers and the Premier.

The BC government describes this event in a news release as “…about fostering relationships, addressing problems, creating solutions and celebrating successes. The format this year offers many opportunities for First Nations community leaders to meet with the new B.C. Cabinet Ministers on issues of importance to your communities and to network with other leaders from across the province.”
