Alcan Modernization

Modernization of Kitimat Works is a US$2.5 billion project to expand Kitimat Works aluminum smelter with state-of-the-art AP technology to achieve a leading edge, highly efficient and world class operation in British Columbia.

Pacific Trails Pipeline

The proposed project consists of a looping of the existing PNG pipeline between Kitimat and Summit Lake (near Prince George) to increase capacity and operate a bi-directional pipeline system.  This project is directly tied to the proposed Kitimat LNG terminal.

First Nations Trade & Commerce Group

A collective effort by all First Nations affected by the PTP to work together to address the many consultation and accommodation issues surrounding this large project. The Haisla team has been instrumental in spearheading this effort, which has almost all FN’s on board.

Kitimat LNG

Kitimat LNG Inc. is proposing to construct and operate a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export, liquefaction and LNG send-out terminal at Bish Cove near the Port of Kitimat, BC. Kitimat LNG Terminal will include marine on-loading, LNG storage, natural gas delivery, liquefaction and LNG send-out facilities. The terminal will take delivery of gas via a pipeline lateral, approximately 15 kilometres long, from the Pacific Trail Pipelines, which will be connected to the existing Spectra Energy’s Westcoast Pipeline system. The proximity of the terminal to the existing natural gas transmission infrastructure is one of the advantages of this project, and ensures supply has easy access to the Kitimat Terminal.

Kitamaat Renewable Energy Corporation

Proposed Independent Power Project (IPP) at Europa Creek, with significant Haisla ownership.

Cascadia - Sand Hill

Sandhills materials Inc proposes to build a sand and gravel export facility near the Alcan smelter.

Haisla Forest Range Agreement

Agreement with Ministry of Forests that gives the Haisla an annual allowable cut. Up for renewal.

Eco Systems Restoration - ERA

The Haisla Natural Resources Department has entered into an agreement with Ecosystem Restoration Associates to explore the possibility of entering the carbon trade market This is an interesting opportunity created by the global concern over greenhouse gases; trees are the natural method of removal for C02.

Funding has been received to help us develop a comprehensive marine use strategy.

Haisla Gas Bar

A gas and diesel station that offers band members and status first nations tax exempt pricing.

Enbridge

The proposed “Northern Gateway Project” is once again being considered, it is still in the very early stages and the process itself is under review. Kitamaat Village Council is presently keeping an arms length approach until the rules of engagement with both levels of government are established.

EnCana - Methanex

Methanex Corp has entered into an agreement to provide terminalling services to Encana; who will import dilutant for use in Alberta

Proposed condensate pipeline from Kitimat to Ft St John.
