Haisla Nation Council has adopted a policy for serving alcohol at the Haisla Recreation Centre, under the ‘Special Occasion Liquor Service Policy’. Our policy and its requirements are similar to those at the Riverlodge Recreation Centre in Kitimat, with small modifications.
The basic requirements of the policy are:
- Special Events Permit from the BC Liquor Distribution Branch
- Event insurance
- Designated drivers
- Haisla Nation Council approval
This policy is for the protection and safety of event attendees, community members and Haisla Nation Council, and to follow provincial liquor laws. This policy allows for a trial of three events, meaning HNC will evaluate the outcomes after 3 events and decide if further events with alcohol will be permitted.
You may read the entire policy, which includes a permit application, at this link here [PDF].
